      Stomach Flu in Children

      Stomach flu or stomach cold is a disease that is referred to as gastroenteritis in medical terms. This disease is an irritation o the intestines and stomach as a whole. One of the symptoms of the disease is diarrhea and it normally goes away within 2 or 5 days. Stomach flu s often caused by viruses, parasites or bacteria that infect the foods we eat or the water we drink. Other causes of stomach flu include poisonings, toxins in some seafood or plants, or the use of strong laxatives used in relieving constipation.
      The most notable symptoms of stomach flu is an upset stomach, diarrhea, vomiting or stomach cramps. Children may have a fever, loss appetite and feel weak. Other symptoms are those associated with water loss in the body. What you need to do when you see these symptoms in your child is to take him/her to be tested by a doctor.
