Excessive amounts of glucose in the body leads to diabetes. When the hormone known as insulin is not produced well, or has other problems in the body, you are likely to suffer from diabetes. A person may have diabetes type 1 or diabetes type 2. Diabetes type I is caused by lack of insulin production leading to too much sugar in the body than the kidney can filter.
Preventive therapy for diabetes type 1 is meant to prevent the body from destroying insulin producing cells by making it more tolerable to them. This type of diabetes reacts by killing the isles of Langerhans in the pancreas, cells charged with the production of insulin in the body.
The preventive therapy for diabetes type 1 is something new from PhD science students who have been carrying out research in Garvan Institute of Medical research. Their findings revolve around a particular molecule they believe can act as a preventive therapy for the condition.
