During pregnancy, a woman is at her most vulnerable stage. It therefore calls for a careful lifestyle and a meticulous choice of what she takes as food. An ideal diet will be well-balanced and very low on high cholesterol components like solid fats and sugars.
The baby in the womb solely depends on what the mother eats, and therefore lots of minerals and vitamins are needed for both the mother and the baby. These can be found in special foods like fortified grains and vegetables and special meats.
It is advisable to take lots of fruits and juices and minimize the intake of drinks like coffee or soft drinks. This is because too much caffeine might affect the health of both mother and baby and can lead to serious complications. Regular exercise should also complement the nutrition.
