How to prevent throat infection
By cooldude | January 25, 2011
Throat infection is a common problem and affects both the children and adult. It is extremely painful and leaves you almost speechless for some days. Throat infection is generally caused by cold weather and also due to some allergies, pollution and smoking. Over use of the voice is another reason. Here are some tips to prevent it.
Address your allergies with antihistamine as the allergies lead to sore throat at times. Antihistamine has a drying effect so drink lots of water while you are under the medication. Use the glycerine throat logenzes only. It keeps your throat tissue hydrated. Avoid those lozenges that contain menthol and mint. They dry up the throat and leads to infection.
If you have a blocked nose, do not delay to treat it. Because a stuffed nose means breathing through the mouth and it disturbs the throat. Inhale steam to keep the throat tissues moist. Try not to talk loudly. Take tea with honey and lemon juice. Gurgle occasionally but not regularly.
