All disaster action plans should include everyone in the family. This is because a disaster can happen at any time to anyone in the family. When developing a disaster action for older members of your family, there are some things that you need to do.

The first thing that you should do is prepare a disaster supply kit that contains all the things that the elderly relative needs for his or her health and personal use. In the plan, you should ensure that you have included all the prescription medicines for the older relative. It is also important to ensure that your relative has access to any documents or important phone numbers which will help him or her during an emergency situation.

Ensure your older relatives have all the comfort they need. Establishing good communication strategies will enable the older relative to know who to turn to in case of an emergency.
