Headache is normally described as a pain felt in the head, neck or even the scalp. The common causes of headache are lack of enough sleep or poor sleeping positions which cause pain to areas around the neck. Fatigue caused by overworking or stress also cause headaches. Colds and flu can also lead to the occurrence.

As dehydration also causes headache, it is important and healthy to drink enough water, say 8 glasses a day. Physical fitness is required in order to prevent headaches; one should therefore do a lot of exercise e.g taking brisk walks at least three days a week, swimming e.t.c. Always sit upright and stretch out the muscles especially after sitting for a very long time. It is a good idea to take breaks during work, this freshens up the brain and prevents headache. Oversleeping and laziness must be avoided to reduce the risk of headaches but if symptoms persist, seek medical advice. Do not treat yourself by taking pain killers before seeing a physician.
