Bariatric surgery encourages weight loss by restricting on the food that gets in to the stomach and at times it interferes with nutrition due to malabsorption. The infected individuals who go for bariatric surgery should also stick to a balanced diet and a regular physical activity. This activity ensures that weight loss from sugar is maintained. There are four options for bariatric surgery. They include; roux-en Y gastric bypass, adjustable gastric band, vertical sleeve gastrectomy and biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch.
When it comes to gastric bypass surgery, RYGB works by reducing the food absorption and restricting the food into the stomach. By a small pouch, food intake is quite scarce and just the same as the adjustable gastric band. The food absorption in the digestive tract is also less due to the exclusion of the upper intestine, duodenum and stomach from food contact by directing food directly to the small intestine from the pouch.
